To begin with Juno Lounge has a really ambiance, with a brasserie feel to it. Oak brown wood as the majority of the buildings craft, complemented with a mixture of sofas, easy chairs and tables  make very comfortable seating arrangements. Juno lounge is part of a chain, so if you fancy visiting one outside of Cardiff you can. Juno Lounge serves all three meals, and also alcohol so you can step in for  a meal at anytime and always find something tasty to eat.

The cosy ambiance of Juno Lounge.

Since i enjoy a hearty breakfast, i decided to try out the Lounge Breakfast which comprised of bacon, a sausage pattie, hash browns, black pudding, baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms, fried egg and toast. Everything was cooked well and the meal was exceptional. The sausage pattie in particular was my favourite. As i am not a huge coffee fan i decided to stick with tea. But Juno Lounge is famous for its aromatic, delicious coffee and comes highly recommended. For the price, the breakfast was worth it  and the staff are enthusiastic and cheerful.

Whether you decide to go there with friends or family, Juno Lounge has something to offer all age groups. The menu is extensive, and the kids menu looks quite healthy too. In addition to that they also have some board games to keep kids entertained. If you’re looking for a cozy, chilled out place to spend some time with friends, Juno lounge fits the bill!

Brain Foods.

So, seeing as how it’s exam time and most of you must be doing some major studying now, we decided to share a list of some brain foods that would complement all the studying. Eating too much junk food while revising can affect your exam performance, so instead of that why not eat more healthy food?

Brain foods.

Here are some that are easily available and don’t require much preparation time:

  • Oily fish – Since fish like salmon and sardines contain lots of protein and Omega 3, they’re very healthy. And these also help your brain function well. Therefore fish is a great brain food. Tinned tuna and salmon are easily available. Make a tuna sandwich and you have yourself a good combination of protein and carbs.
  • Eggs – This is probably the most versatile food around. You can have them at any time of the day – be it for an evening snack or as a meal. Eggs, especially the yolk is protein rich and so helps build cognitive skills which are vital. Fried, boiled, sunny-side up or poached : however you want it, make sure eggs are a part of your diet.
  • Peanut butter – you might think that peanut butter is unhealthy, but it does have lot of nutritional value. If you feel your stomach rumbling while you’re busy cramming for an exam make a peanut butter sandwich!
  • Coffee – Again, too much of it is unhealthy. But research proves that a few cups a day are not bad and we’re sure that all of you are used to a few cups of coffee to help you stay awake and study.
  • Berries – Add some vitamin rich berries to your diet, cause research shows that they help develop your memory power. Now who wouldn’t want that?!
  • Spinach – We saved the one that you are most likely not to try for the end. But let’s face it, spinach is loaded with vitamins E and C which are vital for building cognitive abilities.

We hope this helps, and good luck for your exams!

A little confidence booster for the exam goers!

Cheap and Healthy Food Habits for Students.

(In celebrating World Health Day we bring you some cheap and easy ways to maintain a healthy diet.)

The world of students seems to be revolving around the rounds of Kebabs, Chinese take-out or instant noodles. Remember, it is cheap and tasty but supremely unhealthy!

Ok, let’s face it; living on a budget is difficult. However, it is not impossible! At this point, you are probably wondering how is it possible to not sacrifice the many night outs with friends and live a good healthy lifestyle. Well, if you are then you are in for a surprise! It is possible to eat healthy and not empty your pockets completely.

Know your budget and stock up.

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind

  1. Cook: Eat home cooked food more often. That itself will save you some big bucks.
  2. Know your Budget: It could be £10 or £50/week. Just know how much you can spend!
  3. Plan: Yes, it sounds drab and boring and no one wants to spend their recently attained freedom by planning a list of groceries. Nevertheless, be rest assured if you plan, you will actually have a saving at the end of the month.
  4. Share: A wise person once said, “Sharing is caring”. Well, it is true but in this case, “sharing is saving”! Fresh and healthy food is expensive and by the time you get along to actually eating it, it may have passed the best before date. Sigh! So, what should you do? Well, pitch in with flat-mates or friends. Buy veggies and fruits in bulk with them so that way you save money and eat fresh.
  5. Buy in Season: Cheap and healthy!
  6. Stock up: Be ready to buy in bulk when there are great offers! Remember this is for veggies and fruits and not pizzas or chips!
  7. Freeze/tin: Always a good option to Freeze leftovers or go the tinned way…equally healthy!
  8. Lots and lots and lots of water…no excuses!
  9. Fitness: the only way to maintain and live healthy is to keep fit.
